“Journal of politeness research ”
pick one full calendar year’s worth of publications (I choose 2020). Using Excel, create a
database for the articles in that volume. Create columns for “Article title” “Author”
“keywords” and “summary” (for each abstract, create your own 20-25 words
summary of what the research article is about). Once you have completed this
for the entire volume, examine the keywords column (and summary, if useful)
and try to devise some larger, more general groupings on topics that either
repeat, or are closely related.
Based on your observations, write a short essay (two pages)
that addresses the following topics: Does your journal seem to favor particular
kinds of topics? Or particular research methods? Or particular data sources? In
other words, if you had to explain the main orientation(s) of your journal, what
would it/they be?
