Please write about different single neuron electrodes that were used in the past and write about them more broadly and also write about their downsides that could be useful.
Furthermore please do some basic research into on how certain designs for electrodes, i.e. their structure and shape, affect how effective they are that would be good.
Please write about what these different electrodes are like and maybe include a picture of all of them that would be nice.

Recent technological developments to move beyond more rigid structures include thin-film-based systems with organic polymer electrodes (often referred to as micro-electrocorticography, ‘µECoG’), which provide access to surface recordings in the cortex and even from the surface of the hippocampus intraoperatively”
