Thus, the report is designed to investigate the proposal to ensure its success before a company invests time and money into the project. Background: You work for (Insert your favorite company) and are tasked with researching and proposing a new philanthropic project. Your Task: 1. Choose your favorite company – a company you frequently use or admire. Post your company in the Individual Report Company Discussion – no duplicates of companies allowed. 2. Investigate the company’s philanthropic projects by visiting their websites and study programs such as volunteerism, cause-related marketing, matching funds, and charitable donations. 3. Investigate the philanthropic projects of 3 other companies in that industry (i.e., Target – Industry is retail- Bureau of Labor and Statistics Industry List). 4. In a recommendation report, discuss five of the best programs and recommend one that could serve as a philanthropic project model for your company. Purpose: • You will demonstrate information accuracy and competency; that is, the ability to process complex information and to present it meaningfully to the appropriate audience, using the correct citation format in text and in a properly formatted reference list. • You will complete a small-scale research task and compose a professional feasibility/recommendation memo report • Student Outcomes: o You will learn how to research a specific topic to identify business choices and how to use those sources to make recommendations to decisions makers. (SLO 1, 3, 6) o You will summarize and analyze the choices and make a clearly identifiable and reasonable argument for the choice presented to the decision-maker. (SLO 3) o You will learn how to handle secondary research competently and write, with proper documentation, a feasibility report. (SLO 2, 3) Assessment Measures • This assignment will be graded based on professionalism presented through – thoroughness; accuracy; effective analysis linked to company goals and stated decision criteria; clarity of content; proper citation of sources; a professional presentation of all material in assigned format and literacy adheres to university and professional expectations. • The sources used in References must be cited in the body of the memo report. Report Specifics: • Follow format detailed on BWH 12th ed pages 187-190 • 4 (full pages) to 5 single-spaced memo report, 12-point business font, with 1-inch margins • Use headings for skimability • Lists can be used to draw attention to data that will be analyzed • A minimum of 5 secondary sources which are reputable, useful, and recent (blogs and Wiki are not acceptable) cited in the text and on a properly formatted APA reference page (not part of the 4 pages required) • All reports will be submitted to Turnitin.com (you can use the assignment link as Turnitin.com is linked in Canvas).
