Thesis about the neurotoxicological effects of synthetic benzodiazepines and opioids on neuronal development. (Main research questions) Subquestions: Is there a critical stage in the child’s development where the usage of opioids (or benzodiazepines) is harmful? (And is this being accounted for when using anaesthetics during surgical procedures?) How do neurotoxicological effects of opioid usage relate to that of benzodiazepine usage? What is the effect of chronic exposure to these drugs on a developing brain?
