Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM)
Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) is often used in order to improve Reliability. Select a well-known company (one of which all your classmates would have heard) that produces a product (not a service). Based on your reading for this week, respond to the following:
What type(s) of equipment would your company use in producing their product?
What kinds of malfunctions or breakdowns might occur with the type(s) of equipment that this company uses?
How could a TPM program be useful in avoiding the kinds of malfunctions or breakdowns that might occur? In other words, what actions can be taken to prevent the malfunctions or breakdowns that might occur?
Justify your answers using examples and reasoning. Comment on the postings of at least two peers and state whether you agree or disagree with their views.
